Mossel Bay named “Mossel Bay” by the famous Dutch navigator Paulus van Caerdon, whose crew consumed huge amounts of tasty molluscs after landing here in 1601 is only 50Km from Zoutpan on the gorgeous Garden Route. Called 'Bay Of Attractions' Mossel Bay is really intersting town offering everything from sun and surf, cultural and historical establishments, casino and beach-riding, to fantastic restaurants and exciting adventure activities. At Mossel Bay, the Point, a well-liked area for surfers, also features a natural pool formed by rock a popular swimming place at low tide. The St Blaize trail starts here and it is the ideal spot to watch the whales and dolphins at play in season.
The harbour at Mossel Bay is one of the most modern commercial and recreational harbours on the southern Cape coastline. The Information Centre at PetroSA informs visitors about the production of synthetic fuels from Mossel Bay's offshore gas fields. Other attractions include the Attequas Kloof Pass, Anglo-Boer/South African War blockhouses and the Bartolomeu Dias complex.
The opportunity to witness the magnificent beasts of both land and ocean, is one of the greatest Garden route attractions. 
Embark on a game drive and see the Big Five in a malaria-free area. Ride on elephants through the Game Reserve, getting up close and personal with rhino's, lions, buffalos, giraffes, zebra's and many more. Or take a boat trip to nearby Seal Island, one of the favourite Mossel Bay attractions, which approximately 3000 Cape Fur seals call home. Seal Island is also ideal for dolphin viewing and whale watching (from July - November). If you'd prefer to stay on dry land, enjoy horse riding along the 24km of sandy beaches washed by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.
Along the Garden Route, many attractions are geared towards adrenalin junkies! Experience bungee jumping, bridge swinging, abseiling, scuba diving and South Africa's current favourite for thrill seekers, shark-cage diving!
One of the most popular activities is whale watching from boat or from above, by embarking on a helicopter flip over the town and the bay.
The town of Mossel Bay is a South African historical gem. For Garden Route attractions of a different kind travel South West from Mossel Bay via the villages of Boggemsbaai, Vleesbaai, Fransmanshoek, Kanonpunt to the Gouritz river mouth where the scenic river provides both good fishing and boating. The Gouritz Initiative aims to allow plants and animals to migrate North-South and East-West through long term as well as seasonal climate change. Of course, the other attraction of Gouritz is the bungee jumping!

These giants belong to a lost world and are becoming endangered. We are dedicated to their survival.The cart ride takes approximately and hour. R30.00 for adults and R20.00 for children under 12. Morning cart rides leaves at 10-00 a.m Afternoon rides leaves at 3-00 p.m.
